Market Take & What Did I Buy?
/Are you a bit perplexed with the stock market?
I have been getting questions on what I am personally doing on the investment side of things…am I investing right now and if so, what I am buying?
So I thought a nice blog post is needed to answer these questions during this very volatile time in the stock market.
I did purchase Zoom Video the other week at $110 per share.
My take on this company is I use it personally: both on a business and personal front. Check. Do I pay for the service? No, they offer unlimited time on the platform with 3 or less users at a time.
So how do they make money? Companies are cancelling conferences and in-person meetings so I thought that these businesses will be stepping up to pay for this software. Check.
The one thing is the price or valuation of Zoom Video based on past earnings to date is not so hot. It was over-valued in my opinion before the virus news.
Now due to the huge potential for increased demand going forward I did take a portion of cash to invest in Zoom Video (ticker: ZM don’t get mixed up with ticker: ZOOM).
I did wait though a few days for it to come down to $110 as it was a bit up from this when I started watching it due to the Covid-19 news.
Then after getting in, it increased to about $164 per share. That gave me a 50% increase in a week or so.
Did I sell Zoom?
No, as I didn’t buy much of it so this is an amount I am good with holding for a longer period of time.
If I put more money into it I would have rebalanced to take some profit off the table.
Am I going to buy other companies now that the markets are low?
My watch-list is set-up to monitor the price movement of companies I foresee doing well during this slowdown in the economy. Hoping to enter over the next week or two. I want to see another decline.
As for other companies that will sadly suffer greatly from the slowdown, I am going to wait a bit longer before putting money in as I feel this could get worse on the stock market. I want to wait a month or so.
